Technological Platform Manufuture
Technological platforms (TP) are a mechanism of development policy, established by the EU. TPs are a meeting point of challenges, which are rising from specific fields. Their purpose is to find out strategical advances and opportunities of particular technological fields. On the field of R&D they encourage focused investments and thus providing a more efficient access to innovation and at the same time also stimulating coordinated activity of European and national research programmes. TPs also support continuous development of corresponding knowledge in connection with particular technological field. The key mechanism of TP activity is that the leading role in tasks definition is taken over by companies, i.e. industry. They are an open structure which means that for effective envolvement all the sectors must be involved. That includes industry, institutes, universities, and government authorities. TPs also encourage and support partnerships between different sectors thus providing a ground for political dialogue.
